Round Rock, Texas, conveniently located just north of Austin, is a superlative place to relocate. Whether you are looking for a fabulous place to live or whether you want a progressive place to super-charge your career, Round Rock has it all. Round Rock offers a highly educated workforce, a very business-friendly culture, and easy access to major corporations such as Dell, Inc., who choose to call Round Rock home. If you want to enjoy a superior lifestyle, Round Rock also offers quiet and clean residential streets, beautiful homes, outstanding schools, and a high standard of living.

Round Rock Means a High Quality of Life

While the most recent ACCRA Cost of Living analysis gives the nation an average index score of 100, Round Rock enjoys a low 89.5 score. You don’t have to be a statistician to realize that Round Rock boasts one of the lowest cost of living scores among the country’s high tech communities. What this means, quite simply, is that the standard of living in Round Rock remains high while the cost of living in the city is kept low, providing Round Rock residents with exceptional value.

Round Rock Means Excellent Housing

While you may have to shell out a minor fortune to enjoy a pleasant home in Austin, Round Rock housing costs are roughly 8% less than the housing costs in Austin. In addition to savings, home buyers in Round Rock enjoy outstanding quality and plenty of variety. The Round Rock real estate market supports a number of housing options, from mid-range homes to starter properties all the way to showcase luxury estates and even golf course communities. Whatever you are looking for, Round Rock can offer you a housing option you will be proud to call home. Plus, Round Rock is well planned so that many homes are close to schools, parks, and other amenities. Take a stroll down Round Rock’s tree-lined streets and meet some of the friendly neighbors and you are sure to see why so many home buyers covet beautiful Round Rock homes.

Round Rock Means Business

Round Rock is an excellent place to do business – and the city is always working to create a more pro-business atmosphere. Currently, more than 1/3 of Austin-Round Rock MSA residents 25 years of age or older hold at least a Bachelor’s degree, making this region the second most educated work force in the country. In addition to exemplary workers, Round Rock also boasts a robust and diverse economy that features light manufacturing, high tech companies and financial businesses. No matter what your industry, Round Rock can help you take your career to the next level.

Progressive Round Rock government works hard to keep business taxes low to encourage economic development. Tax breaks are readily available for many businesses, and, of course, Texas has no corporate or personal income tax. Unlike many other regions of the nation, Round Rock is proud to offer excellent living and unbeatable business opportunity. You can find it all right here in Round Rock.

I am a 29 year old 9 handicapper and have been an avid golfer for about 2 years. I have a fairly solid swing and hit my 9 iron about 150-155 yards and my driver about 265-270 yards, I normally used to be longest off the tee in an average random foursome i used to play in at my club and that made me think i have decent length off the tee.
But recently i played with a 3 handicapper and he bombed it 30 yards past me on every drive. and that put things into perspective for me that i aint that long at all. My question is .. how do i go from my "fairly long "category to the "really long" category in Driving. Is it practice.. technique.. fitness.. equipment?? ( I use a Nike sumo2 9.5 degree with Stiff shaft).. Any input would be greatly appreciated..

P.S i know length aint everything to lower your scores..it comes down to the short game.. but i would like to seriously work on becoming longer .. as i know it is important in todays game.

While you’ve said something about your skill level (handicap) and playing ability, you’ve mentioned nothing about your height or your swing speed.
Frankly, at your age and skill level, chances are what happened to you is what happens to Mike Weir every weekend on Tour — and is more likely a situation where you were outdriven not so much by technique, or pixie dust, or something quantitative as it was about physical limitations. Simple fact is that there is a limit to which anyone can reasonably hit the ball off the tee — there has to be a difference between the big hitters, and the not so big hitters.

Next, we need to look at the fact that the average tour player hits it about 270-280 off the tee, which puts you in that ballpark. I never quite understand why some people think they should randomly have the length that they should be hitting it 300, when their swingspeed is likely closer to that of a LPGA pro than one of the big hitters on the men’s tour.

Then again, just looking at your raw yardages (if they’re accurate), considering how far you’re hitting your 9-iron it makes sense that you should have a larger yardage gap between your shortest iron and your driver. And one thing that does come to mind is that you’re playing a relatively low-lofted driver — which reminds me of an expression used by a guy on the longdrive tour, "you’ve got to hit it high to let it fly." So my suggestion would be to get fitted for a driver, by a qualified clubmaker or clubfitter, and see if a change to a higher lofted driver or a simple shaft change could make the difference you’re looking for.

But ultimately golf is about scoring, and as I read somewhere once that 70-percent of all shots come within 100 yards of the green — so, as I am sure you understand, cash in on your short game and leave the long drives to the boys showing off.

If you have watched golf on TV one thing that should have stood out is that all Golf professionals have a consistent pre-shot routine that they go through for each shot. Pay attention to them and see just how meticulous they can be in this area.

Their pre-shot routine is a series of moves which helps them set up for a correct position at address to make sure that they are lined up correctly to their intended target. There is no point firing the gun if it’s not aiming at the target.

One of the best tips that I ever learned was to get myself into a routine. The one person that I loved to watch was Jack Nicklaus and this is the routine that he taught.

This pre-shot routine goes for every shot, putting included. Before the club is selected the first thing that should be done is to stand behind the ball and imagine the shape of shot you want to play. It’s important to have a vision of the shape of shot that you are going to execute.

The next thing that should be done is decide on the line of the shot that you plan to take. Standing behind the ball you should follow the imaginary line and pick out something that stands out on the grass within that line.

It may be a distinctive blade of grass or a weed or a blemish, it doesn’t matter so long as you find something within two to three feet from the ball that is on your line.

The clever part now is to place your club head behind the golf ball square to the target line that you have selected, using your mark on the grass as your guide.

Once you have lined up your club head to the intended line, you now need to line up your feet, hips and shoulders in perfect parallel alignment to your intended target line. You should now have given yourself the best chance of positioning your club behind the ball to your intended target.

It is important now once you are set up to relax by giving the club a waggle back and forth a few times to ease any tension in your hands, arms and shoulders. The relaxation should promote fluidity of movement in your backswing.

Get yourself into the habit of using a pre-shot routine; it should also be used even when at the practice ground or driving range.

Many golfers have questions about their injuries such as back pain, elbow pain. Some of them have questions about the pains that persistent, but some pains happen and just disappear in very short time without any additional treatment. Some of them have a symptom of cramp at the same point very often, and they want to know about the cause as well as the way to cure.

In fact, this type of pains is very general for golfers, although they have a good exercise and training. As a golfer, you should know about these common injuries in order to protect your self form serious injure.

Common injuries are

Muscle sore
Muscle sore can happen very often. Muscle sore can happen to both group of muscle that often used and group of muscle that rare used. The muscle sore happens when the tissues called “Microscopic” has injured or tear. This type of muscle sore is the injury that happens to only external cell and tissue (Micro Trauma), which generally has no serious impact. You may only feel a little sore but still be able to move the organs normally. These types of injuries require only 1-2 day recovering without additional treatment and you may not have to go to hospital. However, you can get some kind of slight treatment such as massage. After the pain recover, you will feel that the muscle is more fit and strong.

Muscle pain during/after exercise
Muscle pain generally happens when you finish exercises that use one particular muscle group continuously. Using one particular muscle group continuously, the body will generate Lactic Acid, which is the chemical reaction within the muscle cells that make you feel pain. However, this type of symptom is not actually a deep pains, If you leave it for a while until the muscle get enough oxygen then the pain will self recovery. However, you have to be careful about the symptom of pain that may happen to specific area, if you feel very pain when move so you should be aware that there might be a deep pain to that area.

Cramp
Cramp is a reaction of the muscles that suddenly shrink and stuck for very short time, generally 1-5 minutes and the person who get cramp will have very deep pain at the spot of crump. The cause of crump is that the muscle has been used continuously for long time and loosing a lot of sweat. So you should drink water during the exercise often to prevent yourself from crump. The area that common get cramp are foot, calf, thing, stomach. You should stop exercise immediately after you got crump and relax the muscle until it recovers.

Recovery method (R.I.C.E.)
Rest: Do not continue exercise if you got pain
Ice: Use ice contained in plastic bag, massage at the spot of pain immediately after got injuries for about 3-4 hours
Compression: Bind the area of pain by using bandage to protect form movement and hit, but be careful not to bind too tight
Elevation: Lift up the organs that pain to relieve blood circulation. If you has arm injury, hanging the arm and make sure that the level of hand is higher than elbow.

Even the guys who play golf for a living and get the best golf instruction in the world still struggle to improve their golf; and they practice each and every day! Many golfers play golf just to hack around and have some fun; more avid players are always looking for ways to improve their golf swing and their overall game. Most golfers don’t know that eighty percent of the world’s golfers have a handicap of 18 or more.

A common mental error golfers make when driving the ball is to hit it as hard as possible. Visualize where you would like the ball to land, as you swing. Overall, you generally want to play golf with confidence.

Trust your golf club to do the job it was intended to do. Standing over the ball for too long a time and wondering whether you’re going to swing the club correctly can easily result in a skewed shot, or completely missing the ball. Make sure to use the proper technique.

Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but most other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing. When you swing if you have problems with your left knee buckling, imagine you’re holding a soccer ball between your knees.

The backswing is a rotation to the right, consisting of a shifting of the player’s body weight to the right side, a turning of the pelvis and shoulders, lifting of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists.

Swing slowly and steadily using a nice rhythm. Pick out a spot on the course, preferably the green of the fairway, and concentrate on hitting the ball to that spot. Use the muscles in your legs and trunk when you swing.

At the end of a swing, the weight has shifted almost entirely to the left foot, the body is fully turned to the left and the hands are above the left shoulder with the club hanging down over the players’ back.

It’s difficult for a golfer to practice hitting shots longer than short pitch shots unless one pays to play golf or pays to practice at a driving range or indoor golf training facility.

Conditioning your golf muscles will reward you with straighter swings. Hold a medicine ball and turn back and forth; it must be rotational to improve your driving distance. Turn to golf exercise and techniques if you want strength and power.

Most of all don’t waste your money on a golf swing aid you don’t need or will never use. Golf aids are often for sale at your pro shop or local golf shop. Be careful about the claims on TV commercials and magazine ads; seek expert advice before you buy because they may not live up to their claims.

There are a wide range of golf swing aids on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just starting out, pick just one golf swing aid and go to work on your swing. Keep in mind that with some golf swing aids, you may still need advice or help from an expert.

Golf swing aids come in all shapes and sizes including apparel type accessories to correct alignment or a golf club add-on accessory to monitor your swing. If you’re looking for an aid to improve your stance they’re not hard to find. Before buying any golf swing aid, check with an expert to get an idea of what problem you need to work on first; backlift of golf swing, momentum of downward thrust or stance for example.

Golf magazines often review the newest golf swing aids and are reviewed by golfers, making it easy to choose the right one for you. You can find golf swing aids that will help you with your wrist and arm position.

Take as many private lessons as you can afford with a good golf pro. Try to concentrate on one golf swing weakness at a time. Golfers can never get enough golf tips.

Golf is an amazing mirror of life. Yes, other sports provide life lessons as well, but golf happens to be my favorite sport and the one I understand the best. It is an addiction, a mystical experience, a test of character, an escape, a source of rare joy and excruciating pain. No psychological test will tell you as much about a person’s character as a round of golf. With the arrival of spring, here are some of my observations about golf and the game of life:

1. Expectations & Flexibility. Golf, like life, is not mastered in a season, and it is particularly frustrating if we approach it with stiff and inflexible expectations. Great golf begins with stretching, bending, loosening up, and matching my desired outcomes with the realities of a body grown lazy over the winter. A sense of humor, and a sprinkling of humility go a long way!

2. Clarity of Purpose. Many golfers never stop to think about why they play the game. To win? To have fun? For social reasons, or for the challenge? For the exercise? Just as striving to become rich and famous often creates frustration and disappointment, few will ever play professionally, and striving for perfection is a setup for “failure”. Know why you play the game and where you find your satisfaction and joy in it.

3. Equipment. Most golfers play with clubs that don’t fit them, or that no longer suit their games. Graphite shafts and new club designs have revolutionized golf. Active golfers should have their clubs checked for loft, lie, and length, and have them re-gripped every season. Almost any job is easier with the right tools.

4. Solid Foundations. Golfers go to extremes. Some take lesson after lesson, trying to fix the tiniest flaw in their quest for the perfect swing. Others, ignore the classic foundations of grip, stance and swing in their eagerness to “do it my way.” Success is usually found in a healthy balance of learning from the wisdom and experience of others, while celebrating your unique style and approach to the game.

5. Profitable Practice. On the day of a big tournament, I often go to the practice green and watch skilled, dedicated golfers practice missing putts. With a small crowd milling about, they quickly hit putt after putt, destroying their rhythm, timing and confidence. Then, in frustration, they wonder what ever happened to their carefully honed putting stroke! In golf, and in life, practice smart. Practice for success!

6. Smart Preparation. Tour players always play practice rounds. Ben Hogan used to walk the course at twilight before a tournament to learn all it’s hidden tricks and traps. Top players rehearse every shot in their imagination before going to the golf course. They prepare in advance so they are ready when the moment of truth arrives. It pays off.

7. Show up. The biggest challenge for many Nike Tour and other young players is to play their best golf without a nickel in their pocket, often lonely and far from home. They have reasons to be distracted. What are your excuses? Ram Das said, “Be here now.” In golf, and in life, it’s hard to win if you don’t show up, or only show up for every-other swing!

8. Warm up. Every great athlete, the ones in the best physical and mental shape, respect their bodies enough to loosen up, stretch and rehearse before competition. Unfortunately, most amateurs don’t go to all that trouble. We jump out of the car, grab the clubs, and head for the first tee. Before any important event, arrive early, walk around, relax, and warm up to the task at hand.

9. Focus on Results. Every golf stroke creates a result. Sometimes the ball goes in the hole; sometimes it goes out of bounds. Golfers tend to focus (1) on the result they would have preferred, which is merely wishful thinking, or (2) on beating themselves up for being so “stupid”, which is painful. Learn from every swing. Observe the results you actually get. Life never lies!

10. Review and Adjust. If you aren’t getting the results you want, find the reason. You can trust the ball; it goes where you hit it. If you want a different outcome, change your setup, routine, or other actions until you get the result you prefer. Someone said, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a mark of insanity.” Successful people learn quickly; others learn eventually.

For people who are into playing golf, nothing matters more for them than to have a better score when playing the game. This is because most golfers usually take their gratification in the scores that they make.

Therefore, for people who want to increase their playing skill, here are some tips that they can use to improve their gaming performance.

1. Pump up before the game starts

Every golfer must first learn the things they have to do before they play the game. The problem with most players is that they tend to think that since golf is not a very strenuous sport like basketball, they don’t have to do any warm up exercises.

This should not be the case because golfers need to warm up and stretch those muscles before they start making double bogeys.

2. Swinging is a perfect exercise

In golf, the most pressured and the most exerted part of the body are the hands. Hence, it is important to exercise them before playing the game.

Swinging can effectively warm up any stressed or rigid muscle in the hand. It’s best to keep on practicing swinging. Experts say that almost 50% of a golfer’s ability is based on swinging.

3. Consider the size of the club

In order to play the best golf game, it is important for a player to choose the right golf club that he or she will use. The first to consider when choosing a golf club is its length. The length should be proportionate and suitable to the player so that he or she will be comfortable when playing.

4. Familiarize the six parts of golf swings

In order to play best in golf, it is important for a player to familiarize himself or herself on the six parts of the golf swing technique. The six parts of the swing are the proper alignment of the golf club; proper setup of the golfer’s posture and position; back swing; “take-away”; impact; and the “follow-through”.

5. Know the course

A good golfer should know his or her terrain. Hence, it is important for a golfer to note the so-called “trouble areas”. This is where some imminent problems are present like a sloping part of the fairway or hanging branch of a tree.

These are just some of the basic tips that one could use in playing golf. However, the most important thing a golfer should remember is to keep his or her body healthy before the competition. It’s where they generate their power for that beautiful back swing.

Golf improvement exercises are a must if you expect to stay healthy and stay on top of your game.

It seems as if many golfer’s don’t care to take the time to get the proper exercise that they need How

do I know this. By doing a study of amatuer golfer’s over the past several months.

Golf has become an increasingly popular sport over the past few years You now see men and women

of all ages at the golf course practicing their swing “Relaxation” for many people is to simply go hit a

bucket of balls if they don’t have time to play the course.

Golf, like any sport, requires that you take care of your body by stretching head to toe before teeing up.

It’s important that you try to stay fit by maintaining a good workout regimine. However, unlike it’s easy

to get off track and let yourself go, but there are things that you can still do about it. Read this.

First Steps

Make sure to stretch thoroughly before you perform any exercise. This is important in order to prevent

injury and shorten your recovery time.

When stretching you should pretend that you’re actually taking a shot and slowly stretch your body in

one swinging motion. Go all the way through the swing until you’re slightly uncomfortable and then hold

it for a few seconds and relax and do the other side, but no bouncing. Bouncing can cause injury.

Once you do two reps of stretching on one side then turn and do it the same way on the opposite side.

You must stretch at least ten minutes before and after your workout This will help to prevent soreness

and muscle cramping. Don’t overdo it! Nothing’s worse than hurting yourself on your first workout. Take

your time and pace yourself Only you know what you can handle so keep your limitations in mind.

Remember that the competition is at the golf course, not in the gym.

You might consider hiring a golf fitness trainer, at least temporarily, in order to get you started on a regular

workout schedule. Your trainer will be able to give you specific exercises to do and will also help you to

map out different workout routines. Mixing up the types of exercises you’re doing is important to prevent

boredom. A fitness coach can get you off on the right foot.

How would you feel about a free consultation with one of the top golf fitness trainers in the country if he

was willing to skip his $150.00 an hour fee? Read on.

You may or may not be new to golf, but you do want to get better. Knowledge is power, so make sure you arm yourself with as much information as you can. Information about the rules, how to swing the golf club, how to select clubs, etc. Also, make sure you practice. You cannot expect to be very good at anything without practice. Armed with the knowledge and the experience, your golfing experiences will be very positive.

If you have decided to take up golf as a hobby you will be rewarded with the benefits of fresh air, exercise, and the addition of many new friends and acquaintances. Normally, players on the course like to strike up conversations and find our who their playing partners are. Like any project you approach in life your attitude and expectations will determine your enjoyment of the game.

Take stock of your personal traits. Are you overly competitive? If you are, remember the road to a low handicap is littered with bad shots, bunkers, water hazards and triple digit scores on your round. You will invest a lot of time in practice. Welcome every hook, slice and 3 putt as a learning opportunity. Even Tiger Woods needs a coach to help him with his game.

If you like to meet new people golf provides you with opportunities for social interaction. You will get to meet new people in a setting in which you both have an avid interest. This makes for easy conversation and more opportunities to

improve your game. Most clubs offer single players the opportunity to play the round together. If you would prefer to play alone just mention this to the club pro when arranging your tee time.

How much golf equipment do you actually need. Golf can be a very expensive game but there are affordable options. A high-end brand name set of clubs can set you back several thousand dollars but a good used set will cost you a few hundred dollars. Before you buy clubs it is a good idea to visit golf stores and club pro shops. You can test out different types of clubs, determine which club length is best for you, get to know the different types of grips available and learn the difference between graphite and steel shafts. You can learn about the type of golf ball that will best suit you as a beginner. Having a golf ball

with the correct compression will help you make the most of your game.

If you want to increase the exercise benefits of golf, you can choose to walk the 18 holes. When you are choosing a golf bag you will first need to decide if you are going to walk or ride. Your choice here will be a carry or cart bag. Golf bags are available in a range of materials so choose one that is suited to the climate in which you will play most of your golf. Golf shoes are important. Make sure they are comfortable and waterproof. A rain suit is also a good addition to your golf bag.

Should you take lessons from a golf professional? Your budget is the deciding factor here. Golf lessons are expensive but if it is within your budget it may be worthwhile. You will find that lessons will raise the standard of your game quickly. A more affordable way to take lessons is to purchase one of the many training programs available on video and dvd. Many seasoned golfers use these programs to raise the standard of their game and new golfers can learn at their own pace.

The above are just the basics of getting started in the game. Before you lift a club, develop the right mental attitude. Remain positive, quiet your mind and envision you shot before you hit the ball. A good mental game is half the battle on the road to a low handicap. Above all enjoy!

As with any sport, golf is no exception in regard to relaxing. You will have more fun and you will ultimately play better if you are relaxed. When you tense up, your muscles do not work as well as when you are relaxed. You start hitting bad shots. You become more and more tense. RELAX! You will also have more fun that way too.
