1. Better technique
2. Better fitness
3. Better equipment (if necessary, as determined by a proper fitting)

One thing to note: When using the proper body parts in sequence, and with the right muscle conditioning, swinging a driver should feel coordinated and smooth, not hard and violent. Take some lessons, find out the flaws in your technique and work on fixing them. The distance will come.
References :
While you've said something about your skill level (handicap) and playing ability, you've mentioned nothing about your height or your swing speed.
Frankly, at your age and skill level, chances are what happened to you is what happens to Mike Weir every weekend on Tour -- and is more likely a situation where you were outdriven not so much by technique, or pixie dust, or something quantitative as it was about physical limitations. Simple fact is that there is a limit to which anyone can reasonably hit the ball off the tee -- there has to be a difference between the big hitters, and the not so big hitters.

Next, we need to look at the fact that the average tour player hits it about 270-280 off the tee, which puts you in that ballpark. I never quite understand why some people think they should randomly have the length that they should be hitting it 300, when their swingspeed is likely closer to that of a LPGA pro than one of the big hitters on the men's tour.

Then again, just looking at your raw yardages (if they're accurate), considering how far you're hitting your 9-iron it makes sense that you should have a larger yardage gap between your shortest iron and your driver. And one thing that does come to mind is that you're playing a relatively low-lofted driver -- which reminds me of an expression used by a guy on the longdrive tour, "you've got to hit it high to let it fly." So my suggestion would be to get fitted for a driver, by a qualified clubmaker or clubfitter, and see if a change to a higher lofted driver or a simple shaft change could make the difference you're looking for.

But ultimately golf is about scoring, and as I read somewhere once that 70-percent of all shots come within 100 yards of the green -- so, as I am sure you understand, cash in on your short game and leave the long drives to the boys showing off.
References :
To hit it farther, you must hit it better. Start with a slightly wider stance and make sure to take a slightly longer backswing to generate more arc and speed. Think "smoooooothe", not "HIT". Experiment with tee ball height as a few mm can make a huge difference. It can also help to point your left toe (RH Golfer) out a bit, in fact, both feet can be pointed a bit out to let you turn back and thru better. Another ball may also help you get more distance. And of course practicing with purpose is always a good thing.
References :
I do a lot of surfing online for golf courses. There are a few things that I want to know and I want to be able to find easily. First and foremost is the price. I hate how some courses make it almost impossible to find the greens fees on their website. After the price, I want to see a few pictures of the golf course, I don't care about the club house, show me a few holes. I also want to see the basic information. Course rating, slope, par for the course. If there are any tee time restrictions I also want to know that. Its really not that much, but its really hard to find a web page that has all of this stuff and its accurate and all in one place.
